"Happiest time of my life"

A review of Bents Green Special School by Dennis J Ainge written on Friday 23rd of October 2015

I attended the school from 1948 until December 1950 when I left to start work at the age of 15. The headmistress when I started school was Miss Wostenholme and my class teach was Mr Vardy. Other teachers that I recall were Mrs Wildgoose and Miss Ryan. When Miss Wildgoose retired Mr Vardy was given the job of Headmaster. Other members of staff at the school was Mr Gilbert Bennett the caretaker and Mr Nelson his assistant. I married the daughter of Mr & Mrs Bennett in 1957 and Mr Benner died in i964 aged 64. My time at the school was very happy and I have very fond memories of the staff and pupils. Dennis J. Ainger October 2015.
