Around 1958 I was working as a GPO Telephonist in the main Post Office in Fitzalan Square in Sheffield. Whilst manning Directory Enquiries, I was asked for the number of a company in Manchester which proved a fruitless search as they had gone out of business. A very kind gentleman who had enquired tracked me down and sent me a pocket knife inscribed "Frank Pickering" as a thank you for "my patience". I have just found the item "among my souvenirs" and had many happy reflective moments of my time at the GPO. Now resident in Oxfordshire for the past 54 years. Thank you "kind gentleman" JR.
