A review of Abbeyfield Mother & Baby Unit by Heather written on Tuesday 21st of April 2020
I was placed into abbeyfeild in late 2017 a few days after having my daughter. At first I didn't like it but that's to be expected its an unnatural setting. But over time after I had established myself there and the staff had earned my trust I began to enjoy it. The freedom it gave me was second to none, majority of the staff were very professional, down to earth and they were easy to chat with. My keyworker Laura took me to court back in my hometown and instead of forcing me too get on the train as soon as court was over actually allowed me an extra hour with my mum. I passed with flying colours I won my court case and yes it was a fight but if you don't fight you will lose. They aren't your enemy but they also aren't your friends don't go in with the mindset of either. Go in with a clear mind and only one goal which is to bring your child home with you. If you do that you will be fine. I stay in regular contact with the staff and have made plans too take my daughter for a visit very soon..
